That consistency across categories is what shifted my view, not a single good product. It’s anecdotal, I know. But a lot of office purchasing decisions are built on anecdotes like mine.
My broader point is simpler: don’t save in places where failure is expensive, whether the expense is measured in damaged samples, uncomfortable clients, or missed code requirements. The cost of buying bad is not the purchase price. It’s the meeting after the purchase where you explain what went wrong.
Why that matters for your brand
Let me close with the view I opened with. In my experience, quality perception is created in the details that nobody checks off on a tour. People can tell when a building takes care of them. It’s in the temperature staying steady through a long meeting, the water tasting like nothing, the quiet hum of a machine that does its job without demanding attention every 24 hours. Those details tell clients that you pay attention. And if you pay attention to what’s behind the walls, the implication is that you pay attention to the work in front of you.
The stuff nobody sees isn’t the place to cut corners—it’s the place where quality builds a brand without saying a word. That’s one opinion I won’t be talked out of anytime soon.
